Scripting it is a definite timesaver in large environments! I pretty much preach that you should always configure the Service Console with 800MB. Another important step is to also increase the swap file partition size to 1600MB from the default 544MB as it should be twice the size of the amount of memory assigned to the SC. Most times you do not have the free space for this on existing hosts and re-installing/re-partitioning is the only way to do this.

Thanks for the hint, Eric! I just prefer the console because we have about 30 ESX servers, so this small script was a little time saver to do it all in one step.

Why are you doing this the hard way, you can easily do this using the VI Client, see kb articles: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003501
